This seminar presents the Phoenix Archaeological Project (PAP), an interdisciplinary initiative exploring rural lifeways, landscape use, and cultural continuity at the ancient city of Phoenix in southwestern Turkey. Since 2021, the project has combined archaeological survey, architectural and ecological documentation, and oral history to examine long-term human-environment interactions.

Grounded in entanglement theory and micro-archaeological methods, PAP uncovers Hellenistic farmsteads, olive oil workshops, sacred spaces, and distinctive rural vernacular architecture. The seminar also highlights the project’s environmentally responsible practices, such as rainwater harvesting and low-impact infrastructure, offering a model for ethical, sustainable archaeology in the face of today’s global challenges.
