Frédéric Charillon (Université d'Auvergne) donnera une conférence à l'Université Kadir Has (Istanbul) sur le thème de "La politique étrangère de Macron au défi de la nouvelle scène mondiale".

Frédéric CHARILLON est Professeur des Universités en science politique. Outre à l'Université d'Auvergne, il enseigne les relations internationales à Sciences Po (Paris), à l'ENA et à Paris II. Il est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages sur la politique étrangère, notamment Politique Étrangère: Nouveaux Regards (2002); La politique étrangère de la France. De la fin de la guerre froide aux printemps arabes (2011);
il a dirigé le centre d'études en sciences sociales de la défense (C2SD, 2003-2009) et l'institut de recherche stratégique de l'École militaire (2009-2015), est membre du CNU (section 04 - science politique) depuis 2011, et membre du comité éditorial de plusieurs revues (Questions Internationales, European Review of International Studies).

Populism and Heritage in Europe explores popular discourses about European and national heritage that are being used by specific political actors to advance their agendas and to prevent minority groups from being accepted into European society. Investigating what kind of effect the politics of fear has on these notions of heritage and identity, the book also examines what kind of impact recent events and crises have had on the types of European memories and identities that have been promoted by the supporters of right-wing populist parties.

Two Composite Visions of Architectural Space: 16th Century Ottoman Miniature and Contemporary Augmented Reality
Mete Kutlu is a second-year Ph.D. candidate in architecture under the joint international supervision of the Doctoral School “City, Transportation and Territories” of Paris-Est University and the College of Architecture and Urban Design of the Tongji University in Shanghai, China. He is attached to IPRAUS, the laboratory of the Paris-Belleville School of Architecture where he is also a teaching assistant for a master’s thesis course. As an architect graduated from ENSA Paris-Malaquais, he had several professional and academic experiences in Japan, South Korea and China.

Keynote Lecture
Mashrutiyyat and Modernity. A Historiographical Predicament
Christoph Herzog is professor of Turcology at the University of Bamberg, Germany. He studied Middle Eastern and modern European history in Freiburg, Germany and in Istanbul. He works on late Ottoman history and modern Turkish historiography.
Mashrutiyyat and Modernity. A Historiographical Predicament: The constitutional revolutions in the Ottoman Empire and in Iran at the beginning of the 20th century have each for itself received considerable academic attention. In 2011 Nader Sohrabi has published a study that took things to a new level by a comparative perspective on the two revolutions and a view to their global context (Revolution and Constitutionalism in the Ottoman Empire and Iran). In the same year Thomas Bauer has published his much-lauded work on Islam as a culture of ambiguity (The Culture of Ambiguity - An Alternative History of Islam / original title: Die Kultur der Ambiguität. Eine andere Geschichte des Islams).
Both books offer partly complementary and partly conflicting perspectives on modernity. The paper will confront these two perspectives in a critical reading and explore the meta-historical environment in which academic texts offering explanations of modernity are bound to operate.
